Praise God. Help Others.

I thought this story was a good way of showing how to ask from God.

I asked God to take away my habit.

God said, No.

It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.

God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness..
God said, No.
I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from
worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.

God said, No.
I will give you life,
so that you may enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said… Ahhhh,
finally you have the idea.

Catholic Daily Reading from the Holy Bible: Have Faith in the Holy Eucharist

Reading 1 Acts 9:1-20
Responsorial Psalm Ps 117:1bc, 2
Gospel Jn 6:52-59

I have no excerpts today, though there are many powerful and important verses in the readings today. More importantly, I think are the whole stories they tell. In the book of Acts, it reads like a current movie of a life changing event, in which Saul, who persecutes Jesus, is shown the Truth. The Responsorial Psalm today refers to my mission statement of this blog, Mark 16:15, Go out to the wold and spread the Gospel to every creature.

The Gospel again speaks about the Flesh and Blood of Jesus as being True food and True drink and whoever eats of His Flesh and drinks of His Blood has eternal life. We, as Catholics, must muster our Faith every week, when we participate in the Holy Eucharist. We must find the Faith and belief that the Holy Eucharist is truly the Flesh of Jesus. Then, we must carry that faith into the world knowing we have His Flesh in us and is a part of us, and we should also have the Faith to see Jesus in others.
